PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CAUSE

(9th – 13th February)

This week has been the February meeting of our Board of Trustees, so to give every member a chance to get involved – even if they couldn’t attend the meeting on Friday – we have been going through and reading all of the board reports!

One of the most important parts of our month for all the staff and members here is our Board Meetings, which are opportunities for members to get to hear and talk about a variety of important issues relating to the running of People First Keighley and Craven. Support by our management team, CEO Catrina and Operations Manager Janet, and an Independent Advisor, these sessions give members a chance to vote on the decisions that will affect PFKC – and so, their experience at our day service.

Three members in particular: Shannon, the Chairwoman; Caitlin, the Vice-chairwoman; and Nathan, the Treasurer devote a lot of time to doing work to report on in board meetings and help running the meetings so they stay accessible.

It has been interesting hearing members discuss the new Wuthering Heights film, set in and filmed in and around Yorkshire! We have a lot of Brontë fans in our office who have enjoyed talking about the fantastic female authors.

Tuesday saw our members first session at Airedale Hospital teaching about communication of 2026! With our sessions now being on Tuesdays, a whole new group will be able to go and get the skills of leading a presentation to a large group.

Martin, who has experience with doing the Airedale sessions, worked with Lindsey and Lucy to lead the work and they all did a fantastic job!

Its the second week of February, so the second episode of the People First Podcast was released!

This week is another interview from back in 2025, featuring our friend and Co-Production partner Wil Quick! This is his third time appearing on the podcast (since we interviewed him all the way back in 2023!), and it is all about the Accessible Building project he has been running with Bradford Council.
