✪ At PFKC we started off our week by doing some important work about women’s health with Justine, a nurse from Waddiloves. The female members in our office discussed important screenings for breast and cervical cancer and how they can be made better and more accessible for ladies with learning disabilities.
✪ On Monday we also started doing work for our board meeting on Friday by reading through the staff board reports and getting the first reports from our new Honorary Board Role members! It was very interesting hearing what our new Chairperson, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary have written about the things they will be bringing to the roles.
✪ Tuesday saw us getting a visit from Bill Graham, a manager of many of Modality GP surgeries in Yorkshire! We have worked with Bill as well as AWC Modality a lot in the past so our members enjoyed getting to chat with him and tell him about lots of the new projects we have been doing around health.
✪ Wednesday saw the release of the new episode of the People First Podcast, all about the Safer Streets event last week at Skipton Town Hall. Podcasts hosts Luke and Tom attended the event and interviewed some members of PFKC and other organisations as well as the guest speakers!
This episode has a lot of useful information about the event for people who couldn’t attend, and we loved hearing what everyone thought of it!
✪ The second episode of Jane’s TV Show came out too! She interviewed another member of the podcast team, Oliver, who spoke about his work on the podcast!
✪ Our members along with manager Catrina went to Airedale Hospital for an induction session with medical students and new staff members!
✪ On Thursday, many of our staff members were out of the office doing first aid training – so we all got the chance to do some BAKING for our coffee morning fundraiser! Our Thursday group members helped to make some of the amazing selection of buns and cakes that we had on
✪ And Friday was definitely our busiest day of the week! We started off our day with our Coffee Morning fundraiser, were we sold lots of different cakes, buns and biscuits with teas and coffees to raise money for our member’s social night fund! Central Hall was busy from all the members outside the Friday group who came to support the event as well as lots of people from outside the office who popped in as well!
The event managed to raise an AMAZING £217 for the social night fund which is an incredible turnout! Thank you so much to everyone who attended and gave a little bit for our members.
