PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CAUSE

29th September – 3rd October

✪ We started off the week when our Events Manager Sarah counted up with another member the votes for our Christmas all inclusive event!

And the members of People First Keighley and Craven have voted… we will be having a meal out of the office in the afternoon on the last Friday before Christmas! This date will be Friday 19th.

✪ From Monday, our members have been starting to go through a new training presentation with Adam, supported by staff members Angus and Matt, about appropriate and not appropriate ways to use our computers and the internet at work during work hours and when on breaks!

We hope all our members will become familiar with this training so when new members join PFKC, we will all be able to help them understand this important part of working in our office.

✪ Tuesday saw our member Stephen leading amazing presentations to the rest of the office!

✪ This week our podcast team uploaded our fantastic interview with Andy, the Area Lead of Airedale and Calderdale at the charity Andy’s Man Club!

Two of our members Adrian and Stephen have done lots of work around men’s health this year and talking to Andy’s Man Club has been something they have both wanted to do. So Adrian joined hosts Graeme, Daniel and Adrian in the studio to talk to Andy about the work he does with the charity

You can listen to the episode HERE!

✪ Wednesday was also a very busy day for small social events! We had one that mixed current and former members of PFKC for a out of office lunch, and then a meal out after work!

W are so, SO proud of all the members who have been taking the initiative to plan their own small social events. It has been so lovely to see for the staff supporting that more of our members than ever have been getting the opportunity to plan outings with their friends and help to form friendships and connections that last inside and outside of our office!

✪ On Thursday our head librarian Jacqui helped us celebrate National Poetry Day as she showed us Carers UK’s new poetry anthology book “Caring, Family and Community” – featuring a front cover from our friend Ruth!

Ruth won a photography competition to appear on the front cover with a stunning picture of her and her daughter Esta, who is one of our volunteers.

Ruth has recently been doing lots of campaigning work about being an unpaid carer, so we are very proud of her important advocacy and over the moon to see her beautiful work has been given the recognition it deserves!

Want to see some poetry done by our members? We have two videos from a couple of years ago where several members read out poetry they worked on in our office! Click on the videos below to listen to them.
