PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CAUSE

20th – 24th October

✪ We have had LOTS of fantastic interviews with some incredible guests on the People First Podcast this week!

And it all started on Tuesday when podcast members Stephen, Caitlin, Daniel and Charlotte spoke to the members of Stride Theatre, a performing arts group based in Wakefield that works to make it accessible for adults with disabilities! They were supported by staff member Rebecca who runs Stride, and it was awesome to see their members reading out all their own answers.

✪ On Wednesday morning the podcast crew uploaded our episode all about SENDiVERSE!

To learn more about this incredible local event running across the Bradford district (including Keighley!) we had Andrea in our office, the Administration and Events Assistant at charity The Leap who are running the event.

SENDiVERSE is taking place next week from October 27th to November 1st. To learn more about it, CLICK HERE to visit the Leap’s website to see where the events are taking place!

✪ A new episode of Jane’s TV Show was also released! In episode 7, Jane is speaking to one of the newest members of PFKC Tyler on the show to help us all get to know him better and find out his best bits at our office so far.

✪ Then on Wednesday afternoon, a couple of members got the chance to visit Cartwright Hall Art Gallery to see the art exhibits as part of the 2025 Turner Prize, which as a part of Bradford 2025 is being shows off in our local area!

Steven, Jason, Sarah, Luke, Teghan and Amy all really enjoyed seeing the vastly different artwork from the 4 amazing nominees – Rene Matić, Nnena Kalu, Mohammed Sami and Zadie Xa! It was awesome to see everyone engaging with the different art, talking with each other and with the staff who took us on the guided tour about it, as well as getting the chance to make some art of their own afterwards!

What a fantastic afternoon out this was. We are now more excited than ever to be going back with the Creative Project group early next year.

✪ On Thursday our podcast crew were back in the studio to talk all about Inclusion North! We chatted to one of the members of Inclusion North, Dawn, who was supported on the Zoom meeting by a member of staff which was amazing to see!

We talked about all the different work Inclusion North does, how they work with people with learning disabilities and their families, as well as the upcoming 20th Anniversary Awards Gala they are holding!

We have been nominated this year’s awards and we are incredibly proud to announce that not only have we have been shortlisted for Charity of the Year… our team leader Janet has been nominated AND shortlisted for the “Go the Extra Mile” category, for all fantastic work she has done over the last 12 months!

We are excited to be releasing the interview next month to celebrate the awards gala as well as getting tickets attend the event itself to support Janet!

✪ All our members had lots of fun on Friday filming our new Halloween video! All our members have taken part in getting a role and acting out on our green screen. It has been a lot of spooky fun for everyone!

We are very excited that the Friday group will get to see the finished video and release it to you all next Friday on Halloween!

✪ We also got a very welcome surprise visit from our friend Donard Ndim! He is a local personal trainer who we have interviewed on our podcast before about his work of supporting athletes with disabilities as a guide! We learned he and a blind athlete had recently won gold at the New Delhi Para Athletic Championship which we were so happy to hear! We wish them both the best of luck in the future and many congratulations!!!
