PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CAUSE

(2nd – 6th February)

We have been having a fun week filled with being proud after our Celebration Event last Friday!

Members, with their parents and carers, and our friends and people we have worked with in the last few years gathered downstairs in Central Hall to commemorate the AMAZING work of our members and what they are proud of in 2025!

Then for members who couldn’t attend, we have been having smaller celebrations in the office this week!

All the members who attended gave speeches about what they have done and what they were proud of, with everyone getting medals for advocacy!

Here are some comments from our members…

Luke said, “I felt proud of everyone, not just me! I was nervous to speak in front of everyone but I spoke clearly”

Tom said, “I felt proud I covered all the information I wanted to say”

Daniel said, “It was fantastic, I liked being all together”

Ish said, “It was exciting it was good to see my mum being proud of me!”

Benjamin said, “It nice to help people and celebrate it”

This was a busy  week for the podcast  team as it was the first week of uploading for both the people first Podcast  and PFKC Podcast Corner!

In our first featured the hope productions team of young adults with learning disabilities from tape Commucity film and arts and the historian and author Alison Weir!

The first show of Season 5 comes from last year in December, where hosts Daniel, Caitlin and Stephen W chatted to the team of Hope Productions made up of young adults with learning disabilities, from the charity TAPE Community Film and Arts!

We met them earlier on in 2025 as they were filming a documentary at the University of Leeds and wanted to learn more about what they do, and why the opportunity to make short films and act in them is so important for people with learning disabilities.

For the first show of the Podcast Corner, our member Luke got in touch with a very interesting author: Alison Weir, who is the BEST-SELLING female historian writer! We have a lot of history buffs on our team which made her stories about Elizabeth the First, Henry the Eighth and others very interesting!

Both episodes are available NOW on all good podcasting platforms – including Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Music!

Video versions can also be found on YouTube.

On Friday member Caitlin held the first small social of 2026 during our lunch break over in Weatherspoons!

Small soicals were introudced last year as an alternation to our monthly socials allowing our members to have more control over thier soical lives and who  they want to invite! We hope more members can blen these events this year.
