PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CAUSE

17th – 21st March 2025

There has been LOTS to celebrate this week at People First Keighley and Craven!

We have had 2 birthdays in our office – our volunteer Sam and our member Tom!

This week was also Neurodiversity Celebration Week, part of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, and Wednesday was World Down Syndrome Day!

We’ve been wearing our special Down Syndrome Awareness socks from StandOutSocks to celebrate and had a tasty cake.

✪ Across this week our members have been round the table discussing ideas for a coffee morning fundraiser in Central Hall! We all loved the Macmillan Coffee Morning last year and everyone has been doing up with awesome suggestions for things we could do differently. Make sure to stay tuned on our social media for more information about that soon!

✪ On Tuesday, podcast members Stephen W and Caitlin were joined by our Luke from out of the office to interview Susan Barker on the PFKC Podcast Corner! She is a lecturer from the Manchester Metropolitan University in Creative Writing and has written 3 fiction books. We always love talking to authors so our members were excited to speak to her.

✪ Outside of the office, Daniel, Lindsey and Team Leader Janet went to the Healthier Lives meeting in Skipton!

✪ Wednesday saw the release of the newest episode of the People First Podcast! This week’s episode was all about the Learning Disability England conference and all the different interviews Charlotte and Jane W did there! They interviewed over 20 people from lots of different organisations and places across the country, so it is a very interesting episode.

Listen now on our Podcast page!

✪ Jane W has also been doing work to develop a morning talk show style show where she will be interviewing other members at PFKC! Many people at the LDE conference pointed how out how much they felt like talk show hosts so this is going to be a very exciting project!

✪ On Thursday, our manager Catrina was out of the office leading a workshop and doing a dance performance with Kim from Northern Ballet at NAIDEX! We are all every proud of Catrina for doing this performance again and we can’t wait to hear more about it from her next week.

And last, but definitely not least… the posters for our next Safer Streets event went out!

The next event will be at Skipton Town Hall, covering the Craven area instead of Keighley this time.
