✪ This week at People First Keighley and Craven we started the second round of voting for our end of year Christmas social event!
Events manager Sarah has worked with staff to choose 3 restaurants that we are all familiar with, which our members will be choosing between for our final social event of the year!
We will be announcing more details when we draw the winner next week, so social night friends should keep an eye out on our social pages.
✪ On Tuesday, a group of our members went out of the office to attend the Modality health event at Cougar Park! This is an annual event all about making health checks and vaccines a fun and accessible service to people with learning disabilities. We have attended it a few years in a row and are always happy to help facilitate and support our members other be able to get any health checks or injections they might want.
Some of our podcasting team, including 2 newcomers Ish and Owen, manned our stall and do some fantastic on location recording! They spoke to members of the public to get their opinions about the event and its accessibility as well as getting some more information with some other professionals! We were very lucky to get to speak to Bill Graham, the Innovation Manager and Community Lead at Modality who was helping to run the event.
We all also took part in the sports and games run by our friends at IMAS!
What a fantastic day out this was!
✪ And for the people who stayed behind in the office, they work with Catrina on beginning to write an article that will be featured in Able Magazine!
✪ On Wednesday whilst the rest of the office was had at work, management Catrina and Janet were out with members Charlotte and Lindsey to the Charity Today Awards in Peterborough! We attended the awards show as we had been nominated for our co-production work with Cauda Equina Champions Charity, where Tuesday group had made an easy to ready leaflet for people with learning disabilities to explain the signs of Cauda Equina syndrome.
✪ Thursday continued this week’s work on the second part of the Love Project! Members worked with Janet and Angus around the table to design a logo based on different symbols that make us think of love and the things we love for our work on this project.
✪ The Friday podcasting team started their day off with some fantastic work in an interview about an upcoming local event happening across Keighley and Bradford called SENDiVERSE!
To learn more about the event we had Andrea in our studio, who is the Events Assistant at the charity The Leap who are running SENDiVERSE. She gave us a lot of fantastic information and all of us learned so much about her and what we can look forward to when the event takes place!
