✪ We started our week off after Bank Holiday Monday by talking about a new project! We are doing a piece of work soon about the different types of love and why it is so important, so we all discussed it in a workshop as a group led by staff member Adam and came up with some amazing ideas. We spoke about what is love,
We continued this on Thursday and Friday with some more incredible suggestions from both groups!
✪ And in the afternoon, the whole office got involved with a new interview for the People First Podcast! Podcast team members Stephen W, Daniel and Caitlin spoke to Sean Farnell, who has worked with us throughout the years hosting football sessions for our members! Recently we met him at the Marley Activities and Coaching Centre in Keighley for the final day of our Inclusive Wellbeing Festival, but he has also coached on some of our Learning Holidays! The team were very excited to get to interview him about football, his work as a coach and our favourite memories from working with him!
✪ Wednesday saw the release of the newest episode of the People First Podcast, featuring Inga Julia Reichelt, a PhD student from Leeds University! We spoke to her about the topic of her PhD study about people with disabilities in workplaces and the importance of making workplaces accessible for disabled people. She was an incredibly interesting guest and we loved having her on the show!
✪ Because we will be hosting our new Learning Retreat project alongside Equality Together and Holibreak next week, we held a Meet and Great in Central Hall on Wednesday morning for all the people going and their carers to get to meet some the staff members who are attending the retreat.
✪ And in the afternoon we all celebrated Makaton Awareness Day with Shelagh Crossley! She taught us all some new signs, which we put together to create a short video all about Makaton, how we use it in our office and why we think its so important!
You can find the the video on our Facebook or other social media pages, as well as our YouTube channel!
✪ Thursday morning saw members Graeme, Katie, Jacquie and Bex with our advocacy worker Debra going up to Keighley Library to get some library cards!
We also checked up on our Community Positivity Board, which we took up to the library last week.
✪ To finish off our week, after a busy Friday morning we all watched the Paralympic opening ceremony on our board!
From all of us at People First Keighley and Craven we wish all the amazing and diverse athletes in Team GB the best of luck!
