PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CAUSE

This week at People First Keighley and Craven...

✪ Monday morning saw us finishing the Makaton wellbeing workshop led by Shelagh Crossley! Our members Amy, Shannon, Adrian, Bex, Martin and Lindsey all received certificates for their hard work and learned lots of new signs – even if they had done Makaton before! We are incredibly proud of everyone for completing the training and hope to do some more Makaton work in the future with more members.

Image shows 3 different pictures of 2 people in a room with white walls. In each of the photos, one person with a learning disability is holding up a blue certificate that says "Makaton Frontline Workshop for General Wellbeing".

✪ On Tuesday afternoon (after a busy morning of working hard in the office!) we held a Neon Party social event downstairs in Central Hall! As a few of our members haven’t gotten opportunities to come to any of our monthly social nights out, two of our members Caitlin and Ish organised an event for during work hours so that those people would get to experience what our social night events are like.

✪ Wednesday saw the newest episode of the People First Podcast being released, all about our inclusive Wellbeing Week festival! Across the week different members of the podcast team interviewed lots of the people who came to deliver the sessions – including Angie and Katie from Happiness Enchanters, Anna and Cerin from Eat, Move, Be Happy, Nana Crawford, Katie Stanforth and Nikky and Stevie from Innabox!

✪ On Thursday we took our Community Positivity Board over to Keighley Library! All our members have worked hard adding different photos, drawings, poems and much more to the board over the past week and we are so proud that it is being displayed in our local library for everyone in our community to see it.

Image shows 6 people standing in a busy library at the side of a blue display board. The board is titled "Community Positivity Board" and has lots of different pictures and bits of text. They are all looking at the camera and smiling.

✪  We also had our monthly social night at the Inn at Eastburn, which we discussed the day after on Friday.

✪ And to finish the week on Friday, we have started to work on our next upcoming event – Safer Streets in Keighley and Craven! It is an event we are hosting in Central Hall all about hate crime in our local area, done alongside the Bradford Hate Crime Alliance! We can’t wait to share more details on it soon…!

Image shows a picture of a dark road with pavements and streetlights on either side. In the middle of the image are large golden balloon Letters that spell "Safer Streets". Poster text reads: "In Keighley and Craven. People First Keighley and Craven and Bradford Hate Crime Alliance".
