✪ We started our week off with the monthly meeting of our Board of Trustees! For members that couldn’t make it, every day this week we have been talking about the reports from all our staff and volunteers about the work they have done this month.
✪ On our social media pages, the August social night venue was announced – The Inn at Eastburn! Read more about this on our Social Nights page.
✪ On Monday afternoon one of our volunteers, Susan, came in to lead another session with some of our members to support them with learning to read and write!
✪ Wednesday saw our podcast team releasing the newest episode of the People First Podcast! This week is from when they spoke with the founder and a staff member from Skipton Step Into Action, who we visited recently at a Positivity Pop-Up!
✪ The podcast team also got the chance to interview Inga Julia Reichelt, a PhD student from the University of Leeds! Her degree was about joblessness in young people with disabilities, which was a very interesting topic for us to discuss on the podcast!
✪ On Thursday we were visited by Tatiana from the Bradford Hate Crime Alliance! She supported a workshop in our office (after our members all showed her around) where we talked about experiences with reporting hate crimes, how we would like to help spread awareness about reporting them and giving our thoughts on their new form for reporting hate crimes.
✪ Across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday our members have been walking on our Peace Board – a collage of different posters, drawings and poems from our members. With all the events going on across the country at the moment we wanted to do a piece of work to show our solidarity with our local community, and promote a message of peace!
✪ We also got a visit from Wil Quick, the co-production coordinator at Equality Together to talk about future co-production projects!
✪ And to finish off our week we got an amazing surprise from Patricia Hegarty, the author of the “Everybody’s Equal” book! After seeing our video about it last week, she has very kindly sent us a copy of her previous book, “Everybody’s Welcome” with a lovely message from her.
