A Celebration For People First Keighley and Craven!

We have been invited by the Airedale NHS Foundation Trust to hold a special afternoon lecture session at the Education Centre Lecture Theatre at Airedale Hospital!

For the last 12 months, our members have been going into Airedale to deliver awareness training to student groups as part of their Monthly Clinical Induction, all about the importance of communication and the different ways doctors, nurses and other medical staff can communicate with people with learning disabilities or those who are neurodivergent. We have loved delivering these sessions as it has given our members a great opportunity to show off lots of the amazing work they do here at PFKC, and our incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do a larger presentation!

So join us at Airedale Hospital on Thursday 5th September 2024, for a provided lunch and our celebration presentation!

Our presentation will include:

• An introduction to our team
• Interactive communication session – including an introduction to Makaton
• How can people with learning disabilities be positivity supported when a hospital visit is needed?
• The Read Bag scheme
• Hospital passports
• Respect forms
