This Week at PFKC (30 June – 4 July) - People First Keighley & Craven

✪ This Monday was YET ANOTHER 2 podcast interview day!

In the morning, our team spoke to one of the personal assistants that come into our office to support particular members – Katie, one of our Chairperson Shannon’s PA team!

And in the afternoon we spoke to the local children’s author Jan Greenwood! Jan is an author with disabilities who has recently released her first fantasy book, “Barney Buttons and the Secrets of Brandeland” – which we now have a copy of the book in our office library!

It was really interesting to learn to more about her writing and her book (including the reading of a few amazing passages from it!) as well as more about her!

✪ On Tuesday, two members of our podcast team Caitlin and Daniel went with podcast lead Adam to the BCB Radio office in Bradford to be interviewed by the amazing disability team to go out on radio!

This will be going out live next week, so we are very excited to get to hear it!

✪ And in the morning, Adrian and Kim both went with Debra to the Chromosome Rocks charity shop in Airedale Shopping Centre to support the volunteer team there. They did some incredible work all around the shop, and Kim got to use her amazing work skills from her job outside of People First!

✪ On Wednesday the podcast team uploaded the newest episode! This week was our interview with Pete Le Grys all about Photosymbols!

✪ Thursday saw the 9th session of our Creative Project!

This week has been a blend of music and creative writing, as the members have been looking at our favourite pieces of album art, talking about their colours, and how they make us feel! It was interesting to then listen to the music and hear how different or similar it can be.

And then, with staff member Adam they recorded the lyrics they were writing in last week’s session!

✪ We started off Friday by celebrating our member Rebecca’s birthday! We all had some lovely buns and watched a few clips from one of her favourite TV programs, ‘Only Fools and Horses’!
