Safer Streets in Keighley and Craven

Image shows a picture of a dark road with pavements and streetlights on either side. In the top of the poster are large golden balloon letters that spell "Safer Streets". Poster text reads: "In Keighley and Craven. People First Keighley and Craven and Bradford Hate Crime Alliance".

Recently, we have been made aware of an increase in hate speech directed at people with disabilities in our area.

For hate Hate Crime Awareness Week this year (14th – 20th October), we are working with the wonderful Bradford Hate Crime Alliance to create an event for people with learning disabilities and/or those who are neurodivergent and families, care providers etc.

The aim to learn skills of how to stay safe, what to do if you are a target of hate and lastly how to report it. Frazer Ormondroyd, the Co-Ordinator at BCHA, is going to tell us why it’s important to report every instance of hate speech so they can track what is happening and try make things better.

Let’s get safer streets together!
